I loved these !! They are good alone or with coffee. I have made them putting the nuts in the dough and rolling them in course sugar. Delicious

When looking for good recipes for sugar cookies, I turned to my dear friend. She gave me two family favorites and we each picked a batch to make. I chose a minimalist approach to decorating in the second recipe listed, as you will see.

I made at least 10 batches of these during the holidays because everyone loved them so much. Such a great recipe, and like noted, they freeze beautifully!

The original recipe was passed along from food blogger to food blogger years ago by a woman who has since stopped blogging. She claimed to have gotten the recipe from Chez Panisse, when she asked for it while interviewing for a job. The two keys to this recipe I've found are 1) slicing the frozen cookie dough as thin as possible, the thinner the cookie, the crispier it will be, and 2) including the 1/8 of a teaspoon of ground black pepper that the recipe calls for. Black pepper is an odd ingredient to add to a cookie, but you'll just have to take it on faith that it works in this recipe. Unless you have an aversion to black pepper, be sure to include it.

Sometimes I just want a quick cookie. Something simple, yet flashy, with very little work on my part. A quick rendezvous in the kitchen with near instant cookie gratification.

These are the best cookies I've ever eaten in my life.  The secret ingredient was Heath Bars. Well no wonder! If you like toffee as much as I do, you'll love these cookies.

Nutella, the classic hazelnut chocolate spread, was first created by invented by Italian pastry chef Pietro Ferrero in 1946. Since its release Nutella has become a valued ingredient in crepes, ice creams, and puddings. Of course, Nutella also works wonders in this crispy cookie. Chopped hazelnuts and chocolate chips echo the flavor of the Nutella, giving this cookie depth and complexity that perfectly accompany any work you might be doing yourself on your own late nights.

It was fantatic Everyone loved it. My turned more like a cheese suflay cheesecake

My sister helped me make scrumptious lemon bars that have candied ginger in the crust from a recipe in a 1987 issue of Gourmet magazine. I skipped the sprinkled powdered sugar on top. Don't need that extra sugar. The lemon bars are great all on their own.

Blondies are often called brownies without chocolate; blondies are a dessert with their own unique deliciousness and personality. Whereas brownies depend on chocolate for their flavor, for blondies it's all about the brown sugar, giving the blondies their distinctive molasses flavor. Chewy, rich, and flavorful blondies, when made right, are an indulgent dessert that are hard to resist.
Since brown sugar is the critical flavor here, I suggest using dark brown sugar. While butterscotch chips or walnuts are commonly mixed in, chocolate chips are equally good. And of course, blondies should always be served with a glass of milk.
