The following recipe is based on an old recipe from the Joy of Cooking, with the addition of pecans and chopped raisins. Growing up we always had baked apples served with a generous portion of vanilla icecream, a combination I highly recommend. |
I made this for a dinner party and it was so yummy. I have made the strawberry gel before in my strawberry pies. |
Easy Cinnamon Chocolate Fudge Recipe with Condensed Milk. This is such a simple recipe to put together from Giada and I had everything on hand, so made it. Needless to say – it was over before you could blink your eyes. Its Pure chocolate heaven (so the lovers say!). |
These tarts have so much going for them, crunchy crust, sweet creamy filling and bright gobs of fresh strawberries adorned with almond crown. I've made some minor changes to the recipe, substituting real lemon zest for the lemon extract (hey, when you've got the real thing, you might as well use it!) and leaving out the almond extract (I've never liked the taste of fake almonds). |
My husband loved the doughnuts. Instead of using chocolate, I shook them in cinnamon and sugar and they were Great!

This month’s posed us with another interesting dish – esp. for me since I have never attempted to make it before. I knew about Moong Dal Halwa (Sweet Yellow Lentil Pudding) – the rich and creamy pudding recipe which is enjoyed and cherished throughout Rajasthan where it is believed to be made during the Winter due to the fact that this dessert keeps the body warm. Not only that, it also forms part of auspicious occasions be it festivals like Holi, Diwali etc but also during happy ceremonies like Weddings. I have heard that it is also famous in Pakistan. |
I tried this recipe early this morning and it turned out wonderful. |
French vanilla is a bit more complicated than regular vanilla or most of the ice cream recipes that come with the machine, as you need to prepare a custard mix by cooking the eggs and cream first. But unlike many homemade ice creams which can be a little on the ice-y side, because of the added richness of the egg yolks, French vanilla stays creamier - at least for the first day or two in the freezer. Actually, I don't think this batch lasted past day two, it was just too good to let languish in the freezer. |
If the food gods could create the most perfect dessert, it would combine my three favorite ingredients: espresso, chocolate and dark rum. Surprisingly, Tiramisu is very easy to make, especially since it sounds so fancy. If you don’t have an espresso maker, you can just brew super-strong coffee or even use instant espresso granules in a pinch. You can make Tiramisu in a large pan, or as I prefer, in cute little individual dessert cups. These were made in ice cream bowls I found on sale at Marshalls. |
